Definitions

factor (noun)
Anything that contributes causally to a result.

The rack F A C T O R unscrambles to 58 words. Full-length anagrams come first, then each shorter length in turn, down to the two-letter words that are so useful for parallel plays. Each chip shows the classic tile score, and the quick facts pick out the top ten scorers. If you want to search a different set of letters, change them in the box at the top and press unscramble.

How to use this page

Start at the top for the longest and highest-scoring words, work down for shorter plays, and use the search box to test variations with a blank or a different letter.

Tips

The mix of vowels and consonants in FACTOR is what makes it a productive rack. When your own rack has too many vowels or too many consonants, the list of possible words collapses. A good habit is to play the word that leaves the best leftover tiles, not necessarily the highest score this turn. Keeping one or two vowels, an S, and a blank on the rack sets up a stronger play next time, and over a whole game that adds up to more than any single big word.

Questions

Which of these words are the most common?

FACTOR, FACT and FAR are among the most familiar. Words in everyday use are sorted first within each length group and the very common ones carry a small dot.

Are all of these words valid in word games?

They are all in the ENABLE list, which most word-game helpers use, but each game has its own dictionary. Check any unfamiliar word against the rules of the game you are playing.
