Two-Letter Words
There are 96 words in this list; 61 of them are common words.
Type your own letters to find only the words you can make, or leave it empty to open this list in the word finder.
Two-letter words are the smallest building blocks in any tile game, and they matter far more than their size suggests. Most of the points in a tight endgame come from parallel plays, where you lay a word alongside another one and form two or three two-letter words at the same time. If you know the whole list, you can hook a single tile onto a board that looks closed and still collect a double-digit score. This page lists every two-letter word in our dictionary, sorted with the everyday ones first so the unfamiliar entries stand out. A handful of them, such as the interjections and the musical notes, never turn up in normal writing, which is exactly why they trip people up. Take a minute to skim the ones you do not recognise, then try them in the unscrambler with a couple of your own letters to see how they combine.

How to use this page
Use the quick facts for the top scorers and the definitions for the words worth learning. The search box at the top accepts your letters with question marks for blanks.
Tips
A blank tile is the most powerful piece on your rack because it stands in for any letter. When you search this list with a blank, the tool underlines the letter the blank replaced so you know which tile to lay down. Spend a blank only when it unlocks a long word or a premium square; using it for a three-letter play is almost always a waste. If you hold two blanks, look for a word from this list that needs both, because a seven-tile play with the bonus outscores nearly everything else.
Questions
Can I search this list with my own letters?
Yes. Type your letters into the search box at the top of the page, using a question mark for a blank, and the tool will show only the two-letter words you can actually spell from that rack, with scores.
Are all of these words valid in word games?
They are all in the ENABLE list, which most word-game helpers use, but each game publishes its own dictionary. Check any unfamiliar word against the rules of the game you are playing before you rely on it.
